We Like Leka – Midge Mod
Good afternoon pretty ponies!
Midge Mod, our erstwhile fashionista, has an awful lot on her mind these days. The holiday season looms and she needs to look her best. She has a bevy of friends and loved ones to shop for, and she wants to treat them right. Thankfully for Midge AND for the rest of us baffled and bewildered shoppers, Leka Clothing is here to help.
We have sung the praises of this playful boutique/emporium already (check it out here). Winter on the west coast may be a little dreary, but walk in to Leka and you’ll get an instant serotonin boost from the colourful and stylish designs. Leka’s in house clothing brand is already a staple in H.A staffers’ closets. The soft jersey knits are supremely comfortable and the styles flatter every body type from boyish to zaftig and everything in between. Each piece transitions easily from a day at the office to a night of cocktails with friends. Just add a colourful scarf or a simple necklace and you are good to go. We particularly love the tunic top (perfect over leggings or a pair skinny jeans) and the striped boat neck tops (wear with capri pants or a swingy skirt).
If you are shopping for little ones, Leka has in stock a selection of imaginative and hard to find children’s toys and clothing (see orange squirrel pull toy – photo below). Grown ups can browse jewelry, underwear, locally made cards and stylish accessories. Nubbly Soulmate Socks would be great layered under hiking boots or for keeping tootsies warm around the house. Design junkies will go rangy for the Merrimekko prints, which adorn everything from mugs, oven mitts, shower curtains and a cheerful apron that does double duty as a skirt. Guys, take note: a sweater from Wooden Ships would make an ideal gift for a wife or a girlfriend. The cardigan and crew neck sweaters would suit any sort of stylista: from girlie girl to haute hippy to preppy minimalist.
We urge you to visit Leka soon. After all, we all need a little colour in our lives. At Leka, you can walk away not just attired, but inspired. Kudos and thanks to owner Aase Lium-Hall and staffer Laura for their gracious assistance in outfitting Midge.
Have you been to Leka? Let us know about it. What are your favourite items? Visit our Twitter or Facebook page and tell Auntie Midge all about it.
Until next time, stay stylish my beauties!
xoxo love Midge and the rest of the gang at H.A.H.Q.
