Union Pacific Coffee
I have always been a coffee house addict. The predilection began long before the existence of megalopolis chains such as Starbucks. I have whiled away many an afternoon with a good book, a good friend, and a foamy cappuccino in hand. How fortunate that I should stumble upon The Union Pacific Coffee Company. Union Pacific is located on the periphery of Chinatown just adjacent to Dragon Alley. The owners were wise to maintain the stunning brick and beam construction that exemplifies historic Herald Street. Playful design touches abound, such as a giant moose painting and a plethora of antiques, which adorn shelves and countertops.
As inviting and cozy as the space is, all would be moot if the java weren’t up to snuff.
As inviting and cozy as the space is, all would be moot if the java weren’t up to snuff. Happily, the folks at this establishment know their way around a caffeine bean. They serve fair trade, organic J.J. Bean coffee which is roasted in small batches to preserve optimum freshness. Watch as their friendly baristas make “latte art” for you, creating images on your milk topped espresso. If you are in need of a little sustenance to absorb all that caffeine, don’t fret; Union Pacific has got you covered there too. You may choose from a mouthwatering selection of breakfast sandwiches (so much better than anything you’d get at a fast food restaurant), soups, panini’s, and sumptuous baked goods.
