The Marina Restaurant
Whenever a celebration looms, such as a milestone birthday or anniversary, we always aim to visit the Marina Restaurant in Oak Bay. The panoramic, dark wood paneled dining room offers jaw dropping sea views. On a clear day you can see out past the Juan de Fuca strait all the way to Mount Baker.
The Marina is the perfect spot to bring out of town friends to sample the island’s bounty in a seaside setting.
Locals and visitors alike flock to the Marina to sip classic cocktails and feast on meticulously prepared seafood. This is THE place to enjoy miso glazed sablefish (buttery and rich), sole a la meuniere or a crispy-skinned salmon filet. If you cannot or do not care to eat anything that swims, do not fear, you won’t be left out! Order the juicy grilled double thick pork chop or lentil tagine.
Oak Bay Marina Restaurant mixes up sturdy, old school cocktails such as Sidecars, Negronis and Singapore Slings (Hemingway’s favourite!). Oenophiles may defer to the wine list, which features a solid selection of both BC and international bottles.
The Marina is the perfect spot to bring out of town friends to sample the island’s bounty in a seaside setting. After dinner, take a stroll along the adjoining harbour and see if you can spot any seals or otters cavorting amoungst the yachts.
Monty’s Picks – spot prawn potato ravioli, miso cured sablefish, steamed Dungeness crab, pan seared halibut Libation – Negoni, Side Car, Mission Hill Pinot Grigio
NOTE: Oak Bay Marina serves a buffet brunch Saturday and Sunday. It is justifiably famous so, if you want to partake (it is worth ths splurge!), book well in advance to avoid disappointment. The Oak Bay Marina also has a separate sushi bar located adjacent to the main dining room.
