Relish Food & Coffee

Here in Victoria, we are fortunate to have a handful of eateries where lunch is not merely an afterthought. Relish Food and Coffee is one of those places. This unassuming little restaurant has cultivated a fervent following of foodies who know where to find the good stuff. Relish Cafe emanates warmth – natural light streams through the large front windows. Varnished wood tables and  bright artwork create a homey feel.

Cozy as it all is, the REAL star of the show at Relish is the nosh. From baked goods to bacon, nearly every morsel of food at Relish is made in house. Many of the dishes have an Asian influence. For example, today’s menu featured kimchi udon with house made chicken sausage, organic squash, mushrooms and poached egg. The crispy smoked chicken with roasted cauliflower, cilantro, rice, pickles and Southeast Asian Vinaigrette was voted Eat Magazine’s dish of the year award in 2013 (and justifiably so!).

We have made frequent detours on route home for one of Relish’s legendary orange hazelnut brownies. The menu at Relish varies according to what is in season. They also feature French or Mediterranean inspired dishes, for example, pan roasted ling cod with house made gnocchi and caper brown butter and braised beef rib with organic Puy lentils. Whichever dish you choose, you are sure to eat like a king.  Happy lunching!
