Weekly Shout Out – Saint Franks, Andy Shauf, Turtle Express

Greetings pretty ponies! First of all, we apologize that our hiatus from web wrangling went on much longer than anticipated. We won’t bore you with the particulars, suffice to say, work/family obligations took precedent. Believe us when we say that if we had our druthers, we’d be out Horsing Around 24/7 but, sometimes, a man […]
La Taqueria – Victoria

Hello there, pretty ponies: It is no secret that we at H.A. H.Q. go rangy for all things Mexican – ESPECIALLY the nosh. As if in answer to our prayers, a number of quality Mexican eateries have cropped up around Victoria, each having its own devoted customer base. We don’t blame you one bit Victoria. […]
Fisgard Market

Victoria is home to the oldest Chinatown in Canada and the second oldest in North America after San Francisco. The picturesque neighborhood is one of our favourite areas in town for shopping, dining and exploring. It is also the perfect place for budget savvy shoppers to find affordable groceries. Fisgard Market, located on its namesake, Fisgard Street, buzzes night and day with […]
La Taquisa

High quality authentic Mexican food available from two “cafeteria-style” service locations. Fast, fresh, delicious and very cheap considering the quality of food. A “Pete’s Pick” for pleasing our palates and our pocketbooks.
Duffin’s Donuts

Some of the most eclectic 24-hour menu selections in Vancouver. Mexican torta sandwiches, Fritou fried chicken, hamburgers, all-day breakfast, Chinese food, and Vietnamese noodle soup just to name a few (with a clientele as varied as the menu offerings). “Duck and cover” cold war décor with pre-fabricated furniture indestructible enough to survive nuclear Armageddon add to the charm. What more can we say except you might need some Rolaids after a visit to Duffin’s, but who cares when the food is as good and invigorating as these fine offerings.
Casa Nova Bakery Cafe

Portuguese bakery and deli featuring delicious soups & sandwiches, baked treats and breakfasts at low prices (as low as $6 for soup & sandwich!). Don’t miss the wonderful ” Pasteis de Nata” custard tarts.
La Cocina De Mama Oli

A cheerful family run kiosk in the Victoria Public Market serving fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine. Tasty, affordable lunch for well under 10 bucks. A burst of Mexican sunshine on a drizzly west coast day. One of our favourites.
Italian Food Imports

A favourite quick lunch spot with wonderful sandwiches, paninis, and pasta. The best Italian specialty food shop with delicious cheeses, cured meats, artichokes, olive oil, pasta and much more.
Pagliacci’s

Hearty New York style Italian/American cuisine just like mama used to make. Lively atmosphere & friendly servers. Great bread, fantastic deserts, amazing value. One of Victoria’s longest serving & best eateries.
The Dutch Bakery and Coffee Shop

Wonderful European style bakery serving cakes and pastries made with love & pride, PLUS a cool old school coffee shop with inexpensive lunch and breakfast specials. A Victoria classic, family owned since 1956.
