Cinnamon Roll Nirvana

We have always been fond of the ubiquitous cinnamon bun. However, finding one that isn’t inordinately sugary or the opposite, hard, dry and flavourless, has been a challenge. We at Horsing Around believe we have found cinnamon roll nirvana courtesy of the good folks at Bubby Rose’s Bakery/Cafe. The Bubby bun is soft, gooey and moist yet blissfully devoid of the cloying sweetness that makes so many bakery cinnamon buns inedible.

Bubby also has many other temptations on offer. An Espresso Bar that serves a variety of coffee concoctions, teas, and hot chocolate. A lunch counter with homemade soups, salads, sandwiches, pizzas (there is a gluten free version for folks with Celiac disease), quiches and more, and of course the main attraction, a  bakery plying daily bread specials, croissants, pain au chocolate, and a tempting array of tarts and squares. We go to the original location at 1022 Cook Street but take heed, there is also a restaurant (Bubby’s Kitchen) located right in the heart of Cook Street Village at 355 Cook Street. (We haven’t been there yet, but it is definitely on our to do list!).
